– MultiMC Install Guide –

Since our server is modded, you’ll need to download Forge or MultiMC in order to log in and use it.

How To Install MultiMC:

Start by visiting the MultiMC Download Page by clicking here. You can download it for Windows, Mac, or Linux. This tutorial will mainly be for Windows, but it should be easy to do it with other operating systems.

Once you’ve downloaded the .zip file, unzip it and put it in a file you know where to find it at (like a specific Minecraft folder, documents, etc.).

After unzipping it, open the MultiMc folder. It should look something like this:

You’re going to want to find and locate the MultiMC.exe file, which is highlighted in the picture above.

Double click the .exe to launch MultiMC. When you launch it for the first time, you can select language then click next. Then, select which Java version you want to use. For this server, you’ll want to pick Java 8.0, not Java 16 (which is for 1.17).

If you do not have that version of Java installed, you can find it by clicking here.

You can also change memory allocation. We recommend you change your maximum memory allocation to be between 4500-6000 MBs. Then you can click next and then finish.

Congratulations! You have installed MultiMC. Now is the fun part!

Logging In To MultiMC:

To log in to MultiMC (AKA link your Minecraft account), click on Profiles in the top right-hand corner, highlighted in the picture below.

Then click manage accounts. You will get a page that looks like this:

You can add your Microsoft or Mojang account here, and then you’ll be logged in and ready to start modding!

Creating An Instance:

An instance is a Minecraft save. Each instance will have its own screenshots, resource pack and shader pack folders, and more. If you delete an instance, none of that data will be saved or moved to another instance, so be careful!

Start by clicking add instance at the top of the screen, highlighted in the picture below.

You should get a screen that looks like this:

Go ahead and enter in the Buildtober name at the top (or whatever you’d like to call it), and then select import from zip. Download the zip file from this link and select it, or paste the link directly to download the pack. Then click OK. This may take a few minutes.

When you’re done downloading files, you are ready to launch! Click launch to start the game.
